I might change the order, but that’s a fine list. And I’d add one more as a bonus volume, Edgar Pangborn’s Davy.

CJ: Davy’s another great one too. Thanks for the comment. :)

I have read Earth Abides and enjoyed it, but have not read any of the others.

One book that I highly recommend is “The Orange R by John Clagett”.

This book ties in beautifully with the powerful renewable energy movement we are presently caught up in.

It tells the kind of story that can change the way you look at the world.

You won’t want to miss it!

CJ: I’d definitely recommend Oryx and Crake if you’re looking for a more recent book. A Canticle for Leibowitz is probably the most “SF” of them and very relevant today.

I hadn’t heard of Claggett’s The Orange R. I’ll have to check it out. ;)

      • The best novels of all time? I don’t think so!
I love a good Best Of list. There’s nothing more fun than reading through a list of the best novels or films of all time and then debating the order with a friend. Over the years there have been quite a few of these Best Novels lists, most notably Modern Library’s list in 1998 which [...]
